Original Use: From 1880 to 1929, G. Ulrich & Co. Meat Market occupied 124 W. Wisconsin Ave. William Kellett started a dry goods store in 1886 and in 1888, he moved to 120 W. Wisconsin Ave - he eventually partnered with Ed Jandrey. The building at 120 W. Wisconsin eventually became Jandrey's.
Major Changes: The building underwent major architectural changes in 1984 when it was transformed into the current Market Place. The building was also renovated in 1990 to further stabilize the structure of the building.
Importance to the Community: From 1888 to 1983, the building at 120 W. Wisconsin served as a local dry goods/department store for the community. The building at 124 W. Wisconsin housed many types of businesses - from 1880 until 1940, the business downstairs was a meat market. Afterwards, the 124 building housed a variety of stores including: a liquor store/bar, a hat store, a camera store, and a candy store. The Market Place is still today, a place where Neenah residents love to visit and enjoy each and every day.
